Seeing Green!

This week at Clear It Out Challenge, we're seeing green!  After St. Paddy's Day last week, we're still in the green spirit!  The theme this week is GREEN and the stash item is GREEN embellies!

This image is brought to you by our awesome sponsor, Stitchy Bear Outlet - Hope Jacare Doodles and is called Celebration Rosette.

I used my Tombow Art Markers to color this beautiful image, my papers are from MyMindsEye Quite Contrary - Jack & Jill and also from Fancy Pants Childish Things.  The green twine is from Target's dollar bin and the brads are stash.  I followed the sketch at Your Next Stamp's Fun Friday Challenge #10 and followed Peggy's example!  Thanks Peggy for your great inspiration!

Get out your green stuff and join us in the fun!
Also don't forget to check out Stitchy Bear Outlet's images!

Have a great week!

Step-By-Step Wednesday - Color Challenge

Challenge - Anything goes using using Green, Blue, Red, Yellow and Teal.

The design team is using the Simple Stories Homespun paper line for this weeks creations.  I absolutely love this line.  The first time I looked at it, I thought about sitting on grandma's front.  I just knew we had to use it for a challenge and offer it in the store.

This Step-by-Step Wednesday edition for Cuttin' and Stampin' is to showcase how to use normal shaped everyday punches to create a tag or label.  While this may already be known by some, I love using this technique to create a sentiment tag after it's been printed or stamped.  It's the easiest way to keep your image in tact or straight rather than trying to cut it first then stamp it.

I absolutely loved the paper and embellishment collection that is being featured this week!  it's the perfect collection for a homey, country feel!

I also used Sketch #15 from Seize the Sketch!  Love using sketches!

To create the tag here with the sentiment on it, was simple.  The hardest part is getting it centered so both ends are even.   Yes, I had to do it a couple times in order to get it to the finished product! :o)  leave yourself plenty of extra room!

I used a 1 3/8" square punch for this one.  You would place the end you want the "flag" cut into the punch.  Be aware of which way you put it in the punch.  As you can see from the leftover piece, you can also make an arrow point!

For another example, I used the scallop square punch on this one to create a fancier tabbed label.  To create this shape, place your paper into the punch, again being aware of which way it goes in to create the sort of shape you are looking for.  This sort of label could be attached with brads or tied with twine also.

Don't just let those punches sit idle!  They get lonely too!! :o)

We think this color group is amazing and I'm sure everyone will create something wonderful with it.  Be sure to link up your projects Here.  And don't forget to go to Cuttin' and Stampin' Scrappy Supplies here to get these goodies and more!

Have a great week!!

Food for Thought!

This week at Clear It Out Challenge Blog, it's all about FOOD!!  Food for thought that is!  The theme this week is to use an image with food or to use a food reference.  The stash item is punches!

My image comes to you from our awesome sponsor this week Lacy Sunshine.  Her name is Lil Scoop.

I used my Tombow Art Markers to color her in, Echo Park So Happy Together 6x6 paper, a red cardstock scrap and a sketch from MyFavoriteThings.  My "stash" punch item is the bubble punch on the red cardstock and I also used a scalloped square punch to create the tag at the bottom.

I also used some stickles to make it sparkly!

Please take some time to visit our sponsor Lacy Sunshine Stamps!  And don't forget to enter for a chance to win some free images!!

Spring Break anyone?

The kids are out of school for the week and here I am trying to figure out what we can do to keep busy!  Movies, beach, park, craft?  Guess we'll figure something out!

At Clear It Out Challange it's spring break too!  The theme for this week's challenge is Spring Break!  Since the kids are home, make something with or for a child.  The stash item is bright colored paper.

This is just FUN!!  I made a birthday card for a sweet about-to-be-six-year old!  The image is from our awesome sponsor this week, Stamp Art by Kathryne.  I colored it in with Tombow Art Markers and the paper I used is Echo Park, So Happy Together 6x6 pad.  Washi tape, twine and stickles round it all out.

Thanks for checking us out!  Get your entry in for a chance to win and be sure to check out Stamp Art by Kathryne!

Have a great week!

Step-by-Step Wednesday -- Butterflies

The team is still celebrating and hoping for spring with our challenge this week at Cuttin' and Stampin'. We have used Teresa Collins "Daily Stories" paper and Paper Smooches "Flap Happy" stamp set.  Make sure you enter your creation with a butterfly into our challenge and also remember to visit the Cuttin' and Stampin' store HERE to get all your spring scrapping supplies.

I'm here with this week's Step-by-Step installation and I absolutely LOVE {love} love this paper and stamp set!  I actually had inquired about it a few weeks before I found out it was the one we were featuring!!  I was super excited to get to play with it!!  This paper is absolutely gorgeous too!!  I need to get some more for myself!

For this week's step-by-step I will show how to get the charm on the bow.  First off, the card I made was done so using a sketch I had pinned some time ago....so long ago that I couldn't get a link to it, but had to take a pic of my computer screen! LOL

I modified it to fit on a card.  The sentiment block was hand drawn and fussy cut until it looked right.  Just play with it, use a pencil until it's right.  That's what I did......erased alot!!  It's not perfect, but it doesn't need to be! =D

Then I inked the edge with my handy dandy tool, that I am not exactly sure where I got it, but I think it was originally to be used for chalks.  I added a new pom-pom and dabbed it in the distress ink.  It works great to get in the nooks and crannies that a normal hard pad wouldn't be able to get to.

Then I assembled the card.....when it came time for the bow, I loosely tied it in order to shimmy the first jump ring into place.  Jump rings can be purchased at any craft store (I'm pretty sure).  I got mine in the jewelry section and there was about a bazillion in there, so I won't need some for a little while.

Open up the ring, slide it in the ribbon loop.  Open up another ring, slide it on the charm, then onto the other ring already on the ribbon.

Pull the ribbon tight and there you have it!

Thanks for visiting us here and enjoy the rest of your week!

Welcome to March!

Wow, here it is the first Tuesday in March already!!  Thanks for visiting!  First things first.......I need to announce the winner of the $5 Meljen's Gift Certificate from last week's Blog Hop!!

Missy......you are the winner!!  Please send me an email (j_valensky@hotmail.com) and I'll get you your prize!!  Thanks so much to everyone for commenting and playing along with the hop!!  The DT had a great time too!!

This weeks challenge at Clear It Out is to create a humor themed project with the stash item to be a charm or pin.  My husband and son are both avid fishermen, so when I saw this guy, it just made me chuckle!!

For this week's project I've chosen Pebbles Front Porch paper and some Tim Holtz Kraft-Core paper.  I colored in my image, Gus-Fish-Whisperer, from Bugaboo Stamps with Tombow Art Markers.  I used twine and a fishing charm I had in my stash.  I did also use the #14 sketch from Seize the Sketch as a starting point.

Just because you don't follow the sketch exactly, doesn't mean you can't use it. Sometimes all it takes is an idea to get the juices flowing!

Thanks for checking us out at CIO Challenge and can't wait to see what you come up with!!
