BYSHCardmakers Spring into Christmas Blog Hop!!

 So I stumbled upon this FB group!  Sooooo FUN!!!  Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers (BYSHC) are having a "spring into Christmas" blog hop!  Lots of giveaways and I get Christmas cards finished to go into the stash for December!!  BONUS!!

It's Earth Day!!

 Every year for the last several that I've been playing along with Jingle Belles they commit one prompt to our beautiful planet!!  For Earth Day they ask that whatever you make....be sure it's something recycled or reused or repurposed in some way!!  Save the planet!!

I combined my cards with two other challenges.....on Unity's FB Show & Tell page they are challenging us to use our "itty bitty" stamps and at build your stash of holiday cards FB page they are challenging us with a sketch!!  

So without further delay.....here are my projects!!

first my pile of trash......ummm......elements! LOL

I used some crumpled tissue paper (rescued from trash bin), some acrylic paint and a bubble mailer (also from the trash) to create this background!

So for this one I used a scrap laying on my desk (black/white stripe), my background and my focal image were stamped on an index card, the red mat and sentiment strip were from the back of a photo card.  Stamped image from Unity Stamp Co. "small stuff christmas."

Next I used some plastic bottle tops and acrylic paint to create this background.  The background and focal image were done on an index card.  The strips at the bottom are of a rice krispies box (brown) and scrap paper on my desk.  Stamped image from Unity Stamp Co. "Holiday Joy Christmas Tree."

Lastly I used a background stamp from Unity Stamp (wonky stripes), cardboard from the rice krispies box (brown and blue stripe and blue circle).  Stamped image from Unity Stamp Co. (warm & cozy)

 The challenge at Jingle Belles is to cut-it-up!  Die-cut that is!!

Today's cards feature three separate dies....stampin up framelits circles, my creative time zig zag background and a note paper die which I misplaced the package!

Festive Greenery!

 Jingle Belles current challenge is for "festive foliage" or "going green" with greenery! LOL. Get it! LOL

I used stamps from my favorite stamp company.....Unity Stamp Co.  Namely Winter Blessings and September 2015 KOM Our Hearts to Yours.  I also used a paper pack called Farmhouse Plaid.

The inspiration came from a facebook post on the Unity Stamp Co. {Show & Tell} page.  I just turned them vertical, rather than horizontal! I used two different green inks.....the darker is Forest Moss distress ink and the lighter is fresh asparagus by Gina K.  Sprinkled with some watered down white paint.  Loving the ease of this design.....more to come!

Merry Sketch-mas

 Jingle Belles is getting "sketchy!"

Let's Get Merry!

 The current theme at Jingle Belles is "text!"  Make cards with lots of text (words) featured!

I pulled out two Unity Stamps for this!  I knew exactly what I wanted to do as soon as I saw the theme!

While they are similar, they are also different!  The poinsettia stamp (Lets get Merry) is a "slimline" stamp which means it's long and skinny for a slimline card.  I stamped it on one sheet of paper, colored it, then cut it in two.  I used the Merry Christmas which is included for the sentiment.  The background on the other card is called Christmas All Around Background.  Stamped in kraft on white, then added some white splatter.  Colored with Tombow art markers and embellished with some sparkly clear sequins.

Colorful Christmas Inspiration

 Happy February!  The current challenge posted at Jingle Belles is a beautiful colorful inspiration photo.

What I took from this photo is the lines on the shiplap on the top of the fireplace, the frosted tree and the beautifully colored ornaments!  Then I noticed the sign on the mantle.....Joy, Noel, Peace, Love.  Perfect!!!

I'm a clean and simple sort of cardmaker.....less is more (and also easier to mail)!!  I've taken a piece of white cardstock and embossed it.  Die cut the tree using Tim Holtz "woodlands" dies.  Printed the sentiment, die cut it with Tim Holtz "stacked deckle" dies and popped it up with foam tape.  I inked the edges with gina k. designs ink in kraft.  I then added several sizes and colors of Nuvo drops (apple green, sea breeze, party pink, simply white, pioneer green and rosewater).
