Gone Fishin!

Continuing the theme on Clear It Out Challenge Blog of creating cards for the men/boys in our lives, my son came to mind.  He just turned 10 and LOVES to fish!  When I say LOVES to fish, I mean lives-breathes-eats-sleeps (not so well if he's fishing the next day) FISHING!  He is "one of a kind."

I used a sketch from the Operation Write Home Blog.  OWH is an organization that organizes shipments of handmade cards to the troops!

So the theme is men/boys and the stash item is to use punches or die cuts.  I used a square punch to create the pennants on my card.  My image is from QKR Stampede and he's called Fishing bear.  I used my Tombo art markers to color him and with the exception of the kraft card base, all other cardstock is from my scraps.  The stamp used is a Tim Holtz Simple Sayings.

Send a card to one of the men or boys in your life!  They may like it more than they let on!  And please be sure to check out our awesome sponsors!

All about the guys!

For this second challenge of September....it's all about the guys at Clear It Out Challenge!  The theme is boys/men and the stash item is using your punches or die cuts!  Masculine cards aren't the easiest, but the need for them is still there!  Husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, uncles, grandfathers.....they need to feel the love too!

The stamp I used is from DigiDarla and he's called Teen Boy Penguin.  I used a sketch from YNS Challenge Blog.

here is the sketch:

I used scraps for all of the papers, the circle w/brad at the bottom is from MyMindsEye Lost &Found 2 - Breeze "Precious" brads.  Colored image in with Tombo Art Markers and used a white paint pen for the dots.

Check out DigiDarla Designs and don't forget to enter our challenge! Thanks for checking us out!

A note of {thanks}!

Sending a note of thanks is always well received!  We recently went on a trip and spent time with friends.  They welcomed us into their home, took us boating, entertained the kids for HOURS, then we enjoyed a wonderful dinner and great company!  We sent a quick note of thanks and the recipient commented to me how nice it was to receive a lovely note!  It may not seem like much, but to say thank you is truly an important thing!

This being the second week of the challenge at ClearItOutChallenge, I have two cards to share.  The theme is "THANK YOU" and the stash item is "something you've been hanging on to."

This little lady (Bubbles country gal) is from Lacy Sunshine.  My stash item is the stickles, which I used to make her hair, her eyes, wings, antenna and bubble gum sparkle!  And another stash item is the Doodlebug button!  I didn't realize that I had been hanging on to them, until I dug into the button box and realized that I have every single button of this type still in there!

The blue background paper is from DCWV Nana's Kitchen, I used a Martha Stewart edge punch for the scalloped edge.  The letters were stamped using an old set of stamps by Hero Arts.  I think she turned out super cute!!

The second card is brought to you by The Stamping Chef.  It's called "Hold On."

I've been hanging on to my scraps for way too long!  For this card, I dug through the scrap bag and used all scraps (except for the kraft card base).  The flowers have been in my stash since I started scrapbooking as well!  While keeping scraps is a good idea, they can quickly get out of hand!  Use them up!!

Operation Write Home Blog Hop!

I came across an Operation Write Home (OWH) blog hop the other day and may only get to a couple of these challenges, so I wanted to post them before I forgot to or ran out of time!

This sketch #29 was provided and the requirement was to be a "love" card.  I used my SU Celebration Stamp Set, Tombo Art Markers, scraps, white paint marker and a little bit of Glossy Accents for the heart on the envelope.

The second one is based on a sketch #64 provided, but was done for the Cards 4 Kids challenge.  Based on the "tic.tac.toe" board provided, I chose: things with wings, paper piecing and embossing.  Paper are all from scraps, embossed the white and the owl punch is from SU and completely pieced!

Thanks for looking!

Thanks to {YOU}!

Handwritten thank you cards are so personal and thoughtful to receive!  For someone to take the time to actually sit down with a pen and paper and write down their thoughts, it's truly a gesture that I hope NEVER goes away!  This weeks theme at ClearItOutChallenge is just that......saying thank you!

The stash item is "what you've been saving that's TOO special."  There is a lot of TOO special things on my card!  First would be the Basic Grey Bittersweet!  Considering it's from 2008, you can see that I've been saving it! LOL  I used a Bugaboo Image called Coffee Time - Thanks a Latte.  Used the Basic Grey for the background print and the brown matte.  Another of my too special items used are the stickles and Glossy Accents!  I use them sparingly because I just hate the thought of running out!

Don't forget to stop by and visit the sponsors for this challenge and also don't forget to say thanks!  It will truly make someone's day!
