Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #192

Hello friends! I am working with the Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #192 Sketch! I've said it before (and will probably say again) but I love a good sketch!! Since I am still waiting on my order from Newton's Nook, I will use another freebie from their collection! This one is called (appropriately) birdballoon!

I started with a white cardbase, then added the diagonal striped paper (from Unity Stamp Co. Enrich the Soul). On top of that I cut a piece of white cardstock as the base for the three strips, also from Unity Stamp Co. (Kindness is Magic). I printed my image on watercolor paper, but because I apparently do not have the correct ink or markers the printed image was running with my Tombow ABT markers. So with that being said, be careful when getting close to the lines if your image is bleeding! I literally had to print and redo this about 6 times because I kept getting smeary lines. As I said above, I colored with Tombow ABT Markers, then distressed the edge with distress oxide in Speckled Egg. Tied some jute twine (may arts) and added some red enamel dots (gina marie designs) for added color!

Thanks for visiting! Leave me some love to let me know you were here! :)

Hero Arts February Challenge - Card #2

Thought I'd enter another card in the Hero Arts February Challenge. The theme is "Animal Crackers." Their definition is the best:

"if it goes baa, cluck, moo, roar, bark, honk, meow, neigh, oink, hee-haw, quack, trumpet, whoop, squeak, howl, gobble, hoot, croak, chirp, whistle or buzz, and if it crawls, hops, flies, swims, jumps, hovers, flutters, waddles or burrows – all creatures great and small are welcome here!"

So here is my fluttering flying creature! LOL  I started with a white card base, added a piece of Bazzill dotted swiss paper in the color Cornmeal. Next I used a pre-inked watercolor panel (details below) and ink blended over it with a Hero Arts Stencil (Floral swirls SA-152) and some distress ink in the color wild honey. I die cut the panel using the Unity Stamp Co. rectangle and scallops nesting dies (which appear to be currently unavailable).  The butterfly is also from Unity Stamp Co. A set called The Secret of Change. It also has a digital download cut file which I used to cut out the butterfly. I then added some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer in glitter gloss to the wings.  Popped it up with a tiny piece of foam tape under the middle.  Jewels are from Pinkfresh Studio (they usually have a 12 color box, but not available at this time. I used the color peach fuzz). The sentiments are from a Hero Arts set called Hello Stamp & Cut (DC-151).

close up of the glittery shimmery wings!

So this panel that I started with was created after watching a video I saw some time ago.....to clean my blender brushes with water and watercolor paper. Dip the brush in water and swirl it on a watercolor panel. Easy peasy and you create a giant pile of backgrounds ready to stamp or stencil or whatever you want! I need to make more, my blender brushes are FULL of ink!!

Thanks for visiting and be sure to leave me some love to let me know you were here.

Last one for {BYSHC} Sketch 30!

With the end of the month comes the end of {BYSHC} Sketch 30! Don't be sad because all the past sketches are posted on the Facebook group page!

My card today features a ink smooshed hand-created background. I added some snowflake patterned paper and a navy blue solid scrap. The snowman is from The Unity Stamp Co. December 2020 Whit Kit Winter Shake Up. Colored his hat and scarf with Tombow ABT Markers in coordinating colors to match the colors I used for the background. Some glitter enamel dots from GinaMarie Designs were added for a little extra sparkle!

With that a new sketch will be released on March 1, be sure to stay tuned for what's to come!

Hero Arts February Challenge - Animal Crackers

I just discovered a blog challenge happening over at Hero Arts! The February 2023 theme is "Animal Crackers." I love their description....

"We want you to get out your critter stamps – furry friends, creepy crawlies – if it goes baa, cluck, moo, roar, bark, honk, meow, neigh, oink, hee-haw, quack, trumpet, whoop, squeak, howl, gobble, hoot, croak, chirp, whistle or buzz, and if it crawls, hops, flies, swims, jumps, hovers, flutters, waddles or burrows – all creatures great and small are welcome here!"

So I combined a couple sets...one from Hero Arts (Hello Stamp & Cut) which happens to be my ONLY Hero Arts set :\ and a sweet elephant from Unity Stamp Co. (Sweet Elle).

Started with a white card base, cut some old Carta Bella paper (paris girl circa 2012) to match the February 2023 sketch challenge happening at Unity Show & tell. Next I stamped Elle on a piece of watercolor paper, colored with Tombow ABT markers and used a cloud stencil to create some soft clouds in the background. I added some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer (glitter gloss) to the heart on the balloon and some sequins from Spiegelmom scraps (country winter).

Fingers crossed that first time's the charm and there will be more Hero Arts in my future! :) Thanks for visiting! Leave me some love to let me know you were here! :)

Super Bowl Sunday!

While most would consider Super Bowl Sunday a day to prep and party and get ready for the big game.....I had other plans! My daughter and I spent most of the day in our guest room which doubles as the "craft room." While she was working on her dance solo costume.....I was working on a stash half made cards. You know you have a bag or a bin or a drawer full of stuff that you have saved! "I'll make something with that another day." "Not sure what to do with that right now, I'll save it for just the right thing." "OMG I hate it! But maybe someday I'll love it!" LOL Well this was the results of that! 6 cards and a solo costume done! :)

Leftover cut pieces (Coffee Lovers) from a background sketch. Stamps are from December 2022 KOM and ...hello fresh start.

Background created ages ago with ink smooshing and stamped pop dots background. Entering for the Unity February 2023 Sketch challenge! Stamps are from January 2023 KOM

Paper from Unity (Grow. Evolve. Transform.) Cut with the largest scallop and rectangle die (currently unavailable). "Birthday" was die cut with say it big dies with black glitter paper. Happy was stamped from Gotta Love Sentiments.

Ink smooshed background been sitting around for a while. Finally stamped with A faithful letter in white embossing, then die cut with largest scallop & rectangle die. Stamped onto vellum the flower from You are forever beautiful and sentiment from ....extended celebration.

The next two are scrap created background using all sorts of scraps I had that matched. The first one ^ was cut using the largest rectangle from scallop & rectangle dies (kraft background was cut with largest scalloped rectangle). Sentiment is Unity, but not sure the kit. Tied with some May arts twine and popped up with foam tape.

this one was an extra piece left on the sheet after I die cut the above panel. Red panel was embossed with a darice folder. Vellum circle cut with scallops & circle die, then the sentiment from ...hello fresh start. Red enamel dots from GinaMarie Designs.

My daughter's solo costume. She did this all while we sat together! <3 Dress is from Dillard's, purchased while shopping for homecoming dresses!

All in all it was a "SUPER" fun day spent crafting together! Love days like that! :)

Unity Stamp Co. February 2023 Sketch Challenge - second card!

I was able to create another card for the Unity Stamp Co. February Sketch challenge! Fingers crossed that I can create more before the end of the month!

I always need birthday cards to this one will definitely get used! I used the Happy Birthday Gnome for this fun card!  I stamped this cutie on watercolor paper using VersaFine Clair Nocturne, then colored with Tombow ABT Markers. The banner paper is from Rainbow Wishes (also from Unity).  I cheated a little bit....the navy blue "background" is 1/4" strips because the blue paper I found to match wasn't big enough! LOL You do what you have to do!  I stamped and fussy cut the Happy Birthday sentiment then popped up with foam tape. The gold banner is washi tape tuck to some cardstock! Then I added some mercury glass stickles to the balloon to make it pop!

Be sure to add your card to the Unity Stamp Co. Show & Tell sketch album to join in the fun!!

Tawny Owl Paperie Inky Inspiration Sketch 8

I love a sketch! I sometimes need a little help with design, which is when I go to a sketch! I have saved piles and piles of sketches for years and 100% go back and get inspiration from them! A sketch is a jumping off point! It's not set in stone, but there to help you get a vision for your project! This sketch is from Tawny Owl Paperie and it's their Inky Inspiration Sketch #8.

Where I live in Florida is just a few miles from the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World (or so we've been told), Plant City! Strawberry season runs from December until March and there is a Strawberry Festival every year...this being the 93rd! I have plans to enter some cards into their Neighborhood Village Contest for paper crafts/cardmaking! I've never had a blue ribbon from a fair before! LOL Fingers Crossed! So this card started with a white card base, the kraft cardstock was run through an embossing folder from Spellbinders called plaid company. Distressed it with some vintage photo distress oxide. Next I stamped the image (from Unity Stamp Co. Berry Sweet Moments) onto watercolor paper using VersaFine Clair in Nocturne. Colored with Tombow ABT markers and then fussy cut. I used the scallops and circles nesting dies to create the base of the berries. I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and die cut it as well....and distressed with vintage photo. I added some foam tape and some pink enamel dots (ginamarie designs) for a little added sweetness!

Thanks for visiting! Leave me some love to let me know you were here! :)

Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #191

Hello there friends! I am going to throw my hat into the ring for the Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #191. It's a color challenge. This is my first time posting here so we'll see how it goes! LOL According to the rules Newton's Nook Designs images are to be used.......well......I don't currently own any of them, so luckily they offer a few freebies!

Today I have chosen the sunflower "bloom" freebie! I thought it would be perfect to color up for this color challenge! I printed it on 100lb cardstock, die cut it with some Unity Stamp Co. dies, colored with some alcohol markers! Distressed around the edge with some Hickory smoke Distress oxide and popped it up with some foam tape! It's simple and cute! I love it!

I added some red checked ribbon from Jillibeansoup and some red enamel dots from Gina Marie Designs.
