Sketch 37 is on it's last days.....

{BYSHC} Sketch 37 will be finished tomorrow night at Midnight! Winners for this sketch will be announced on October 1st!

Today's card is a special one because it's something I don't create often......a shaker card! I was asked to be a guest designer for the month of September for SpiegelMom Scraps. SMS is an online store that sells mostly sequins and sparkly things! I discovered these little bags of joy by accident! What I love about them is the variety in each bag! They all go together and are different shapes and sizes!

As you can probably tell, the sequin packet I chose (Capture Today) has LOTS of colors! I only pulled out the dark blue, light blue and ivory. I started with a white cardbase and measured and cut the patterned paper according to the sketch. The snowflake paper and the sentiment(s) are all from Unity Stamp Co.  I cut the shaker panel from white cardstock and then cut another for the frame. The acetate sheet was also cut with the same measurements. I added some foam adhesive to make the "pocket" for the shaker elements. I used the three colors of sequins and some micro beads. The circle was cut with the scallops and circles nesting die set from Unity Stamp Co. and ink blended with some distress oxides. The snowflake was cut using my cricut. The sentiment was stamped with versafine clair in nocturne, embossed with some WOW! Neutral Ultra Shimmer Embossing Glitter and then cut apart. Not one of my best shaker elements, but practice makes perfect!

Guest Designer for September! SpiegelMom Scraps is the place!!

Hi and welcome back! I have been asked by SpiegelMom Scraps to be a guest designer for September! I am so honored and humbled! SpiegelMom Scraps is an online store that sells mostly sequins....the MOST beautiful packs of sequins you'll ever see! They also carry a bunch of other goodies.....foam tape, acetate sheets, ephemera....check them out!

My second scrapbook layout created in about a gazillion years! LOL These photos are from 2011, paper is from 2010! I told you it's been a while! LOL

The paper, rubons and brads are all from Fancy Pants Designs, a collection called Rusted Sun. I used some square and rectangle nesting dies to cut the photos and a ruler/die (not sure how to describe it) to cut the edges of the title panel...all are from Unity Stamp Co.  The sketch I used was provided from Creative Scrapbooker Magazine. This sketch is part of their Spring 2024 page call on their website. I am submitting this to be published (fingers crossed)! I've had cards published but not a scrapbook layout!

I used a combination of two SpiegelMom Scraps sequin packs....Sunny Days (September release) and Summer Hygge. I had originally planned on only adding a cluster next to the "sunshine" block, but then I started to add more and more and thought....why not just keep going! I love how they sparkle!

Here is the sketch for reference!

Thanks for visiting! Stay tuned for more good stuff!!

Sketch 37 still going strong!

Mid-September and Sketch 37 is still going strong! {BYSHC} are working hard to keep the year long process of Christmas card creating fun and exciting!

Today's card (much like the last one) felt somewhat like a cheat! But.....it's perfectly ok to let the paper and embellishments do all the work!!

Started with a white card base, measured and cut the patterned paper according to the sketch! All papers and chipboard embellishment are from Carta Bella Home for Christmas. I used the scallops and squares nesting dies from Unity Stamp Co to cut out the sentiment and I also added some red foil enamel dots from Gina Marie Designs.

Doesn't need to be hard to be beautiful! And your family and friends will appreciate it either way! :)

All Things Fall!

Every month the Unity Stamp Co. Show & Tell Facebook page sponsors a challenge. It could be a sketch, a theme, a color palette, an idea......could be anything! This month, September, it's All Things Fall. This group of people on this page as well as Unity Stamp Co itself are all amazing and SUPER talented!! It's my go-to place to find inspiration! Sometimes I join in the challenge and sometimes I don't get a chance to. But this month I did get a card completed for this fall challenge!

This idea sort of popped into my head when I saw a scrap of white ribbon that my daughter had discarded laying on the counter! LOL I remembered all the glimmer mist spray bottles I have had in my stash forever and thought I wonder how hard it would be to color that ribbon and make it something else! Well outside I went! After I sprayed the ribbon there was some leftover ink on my mat so I grabbed some watercolor scraps and soaked it all up. But the spray bottles were staring at me to keep going! LOL So I did!

A few of the items I used are from Plain Jane Semi Opaque Matte Mist (Tiger Lily and Fire) and also Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Brick, Tuscan Sun, Sand and Tattered Leather). To be clear these are not new items! They have been around since I started crafting!

These were just scraps of watercolor paper I had laying on top of the scrap pile. Sprayed and sprayed and shook them to move the ink, and dropped some drops....just played around!

The card pictured was created by using some products from Unity Stamp Co. They include a stamp and die combo set called Fall Y'all (Whit Kit 10/21), a edge die (Whit Kit 9/22) and a sentiment stamp from With Appreciation. I cut the shapes from one of the inked pieces using the dies in the kit, stamped with the stamps and then embossed with nuvo embossing powder in gold enchantment. The stitched square is also a Unity die set called scallops and squares. Added some twine, some foam tape and some enamel dots from Gina Marie Designs and it's finished!

A close up of the gold embossing details on the leaves! It's really pretty and fall feeling!

Guest Designer at SpiegelMom Scraps!

Here it is September and I am honored to be the guest designer at SpiegelMom Scraps this month! SpiegelMom Scraps is an online store that specializes in packages of coordinating sequins! They also have other goodies....embellishments, foam tape and acetate to create shakers and cut files as well! I fell in love with the sequin packs because they contain coordinating sequins in different shapes and colors all in the same package!

It's been a hot minute since I have created a scrapbook layout, but oooooh these sequins had my creative juices flowing! I found this sketch on Pinterest. It belongs to Sketches in Thyme which I have since found on Facebook!

I started scrapbooking about 20 or so years ago.  I've got about 15 or more completed scrapbooks and TONS and TONS of pictures laying around!  For reference my daughter is 6 years old in the pictures I've used, and she just turned 16 in April! YIKES! I had better get busy on the scrapbooks! LOL

I started with selecting the photos and the paper and laid it all out to see what went together! The paper is some super old Basic Grey called Wisteria from 2008! Sketches to me are a good jumping off point. As you can see my photos are larger than the measurements in the sketch, but I made it work and fit everything in as best as I could!

Next was creating the shaker element! I have literally made probably a total of 4 shakers in my life and whew, they are still a challenge for me! But I was determined to have one on this layout so here we go!! :) Started with a circle of white cardstock, then I cut several "rings" using a die set from Unity Stamp Co. I glued the cardstock rings together to create a thicker platform. Then used the circle dies to cut an acetate circle! The sequins I chose for this layout are from the Dramatic pack. I also added some gold seed and bugle beads I had on hand.  Love that shaker sound!

I had so much fun with this that I have gathered more photos to get another layout started!!  Here are more photos of the beautiful sparkly sequins I used!

Flowers, brads, twine and gold cardstock all from my stash! Letters were cut using my Cricut Explore 3.

Can't wait for more projects to come! Stay tuned!!

Welcome to Sketch 37!

Hello friends! {BYSHC} Sketch 37 will run through the end of September! The days are getting shorter and the Christmas card stash is growing thanks to the year long efforts of the {BYSHC} Team!

My card today feels a little like a cheat, but it's still going to be counted as a card that will be mailed to friends and/or family! The paper I chose is from Echo Park Gnome for Christmas. I measured and cut according to the sketch dimensions. The circle was cut using Unity Stamp Co. circle and scallops nesting dies. The car was part of a panel that said "sending Holiday Cheer." I wanted to use the car so I cut with the circle die and in turn cut off the sentiment. A little bit of the "sending" part was still visible so what do you do?!?!? EMBELLISH! I added the twine bow to cover the section that had the words! Then I used the remaining part as the sentiment at the top! I tore a piece of the red buffalo plaid to add a bit of interest! :) I added some glossy accents to the windshield and headlights and also some stardust stickles to the snow on the tree!
