{BYSHC} Sketch 56 - Merry Christmas

Hello again and welcome back! {BYSHC} Sketch 56 is still going strong! Mid-month and still open and waiting for your submission! The sponsor this month is Jaded Blossom!

My card today features a sentiment cut from a photo Christmas card that we received! I found some paper that coordinated very well with the classic look of the sentiment. The paper manufacturer and name escapes me at the moment, but keep and eye on this and I may locate it! :)

I added some foam adhesive and some red burlap twine to spice it up!

{BYSHC} Sketch 54 - Merry Christmas

My last card for the {BYSHC} Sketch 54 Challenge is a sweet one!

All parts are from Unity Stamp Co.! The papers are from Snowflake Elegance and of course this sweet little snowman is called Snow Buddies. The sentiment is from Gotta Love Sentiments. This came together so quickly and easily!

{BYSHC} Sketch 49 - Merry Christmas

We are to the last Friday of the month, so be sure to get your entries in for the {BYSHC} Sketch 49 before midnight on the 30th!

As I have mentioned before, the sponsor this month is Therm-O-Web! Be sure to give them a look!

Today's card went together somewhat easier than the others this month! Maybe because it was the fourth one I had done! LOL The papers are from a My Minds Eye pad called Christmas! Lots of rich colors! Glued the two papers together, then die cut with the largest scallop and rectangle nesting die from Unity. To that I took a piece of ribbon from my stash and, because it was wider than I would have liked, folded it in half and glued the center together with Therm-O-Web tear tape! I tied the bow and stuck it to the ribbon with some Zots (also from Therm-O-Web). The Merry Christmas is by Hero Arts. I had the brilliant idea to use the Therm-O-Web adhesive sheets. I stuck it to the back of the red cardstock I wanted to die-cut the "merry" from and ran it through the big shot. When I pulled the word off....it was sticky! :) Christmas was stamped onto black cardstock with versaMark and then embossed with gina k. designs white embossing powder! I did add a rectangle of vellum under the sentiment because it was just getting lost on that background!

Don't forget to get your cards in before the 30th to be eligible for the Therm-O-Web prize!

{BYSHC} Sketch 46! - It's Santa!

Hello there and welcome! {BYSHC} the Sketch 46 challenge is half way complete! As it was announced at the beginning of the year, each month's challenge prize will be brought to you by one of our amazing sponsors! This month it happens to be Lawn Fawn! Entries must be entered into the Sketch 46 Album in the {BYSHC} Facebook group!

Ever have one of those "ah-ha" moments and then try to recreate on paper what you thought in your head?!? That's what happened here! I had the brilliant idea to create a rooftop using scalloped paper! :/ except that my scallop wasn't very big so it took way more layers than I expected! LOL However, this super cute card took shape and turned out super cute!

So as I said, I started with a white card base and to that I added layer upon layer of different brown papers punched with a scalloped edge punch! The bottom is pretty thick, but looks cool!! The santa and sleigh and all the presents and bags are from the Lawn Fawn kit called Ho-Ho-Holidays and the matching die set! The blue paper is from a pad from PhotoPlay called It's a Wonderful Christmas. I thought it looked like the night sky! I added some fuzzy fibers to resemble snow to the roof top. The chimney was fabricated from a scrap piece of brown and  a black marker! LOL I added a die cut moon and some star sequins to complete the night sky! The sentiment was stamped and fussy cut prior to attaching it to the roof!

Below is the sketch for reference! Lawn Fawn is generously giving a $25 gift certificate to the winner of this month's challenge!

{BYSHC} Sketch Challenge #39

We are in the home stretch! {BYSHC} has filled my card bin to the point of overflowing!

November started with Sketch 39 (it's at the very bottom!)

This sketch was a little bit of a challenge for me, but I did the best that I could figure out! LOL It's more about making the card, than making sure the sketch measurements are exact! ;)

This double sided piece of patterned cardstock was just sitting there and happened to be approximately the right size for an A2 card! I had previously cut a "template" from another piece of patterned paper that I couldn't find a center piece that looked good, so it became the template! LOL But my cuts were crooked and not completely straight, so I cut two strips of red to go over the seams! Worked perfectly! The die and holly are both from Unity Stamp Co.  The holly are from the 2022 Advent Calendar (2023 is about to start!) and the die is called Greetings of the Season.

Love it now that it's finished! LOL

Don't let the exact measurements scare you! It's two cuts or two strips of paper over the top! Easy peasy!

Falling for the Holidays 2023 {BYSHC} Linky Party - Sneaking in another!

This may be my last post for the Falling for the Holidays 2023 {BYSHC} Linky Party! I have been neglecting my housework all week! LOL While I agree that housework is overrated.....my husband doesn't agree! ;)

These two cards came about after I saw a video posted with this amazing technique using this beautiful set! I have had it a while, but *gasp* never inked it up! So this was the perfect opportunity!

I added the second two pictures to hopefully show the gold ink splatters that just shimmer!

Started with a full sheet of white cardstock (8 1/2" x 11"). I have since realized that I should have used WATERCOLOR PAPER! Oh well, next time! I then grabbed the Painted Poinsettias stamp set from Unity Stamp Co. and a sheet of acetate. I smooshed some distress oxide inks in both lumberjack plaid and crackling campfire onto the sheet and spritzed with some water. I added the largest poinsettia leaves to an acrylic block and inked it up with the watered down distress oxide mixture and stamped it randomly all over the sheet. Next I took the smaller poinsettia leaves and inked the lumberjack plaid ink onto the stamp directly and stamped it over the watered down inked images. Then the yellow centers were next. The green dots were stamped first on scrap and then onto the panel with distress oxide in lucky clover. Cut the sheet up into 4 and used the scallops and rectangle nesting dies from Unity to make them prettier! As I said above I smooshed more of the lumberjack plaid, some forest moss and some champagne pigment ink onto the acrylic block and added water to add more splatters! The "merry christmas" die cut is also from Unity and while I was looking up all these items to link here....I see that the poinsettias stamps and phrase die set are being offered in a bundle! Cut the background with vellum and the letters with gold sticker paper (game changer)! Unity makes it almost too easy to create such beautiful cards!

One more Pink Card!

One more card for the Jingle Belles Rock Pink Christmas! Each October, the first challenge for this awesome challenge blog is for pink Christmas cards! In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month both of the blog owners (Stephanie and Lauren) each donate $2 per card posted for the challenge! This one happens to be my third!

I just love this giant (or Colossal) snowflake from Unity Stamp Co! It does come with a matching die, which I did use on the last two cards, but this one was just stamped and embossed! I started with a white cardbase, to which I added a black background. The colored panel was ink blended with a few colors of distress inks (worn lipstick, spun sugar, tea dye and antique linen). I sprinkled some water on to create the white spots. I stamped the snowflake image with some embossing distress ink then sprinkled some embossing glitter on to that. After melting, I die cut the panel with the scallops and rectangle nesting dies. To that I added some natural twine, some white iridescent sequins and the sentiment was cut and added like a tag!

Not sure if there will be any more but you just never know! Three is a nice number!!

Pink Christmas!

Jingle Belles Rock designates the first challenge of October to be PINK CHRISTMAS! In honor or Breast Cancer Awareness month, the creators of the blog (Stephanie and Lauren) will each donate $2 per card to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation! While I do try to post cards to their challenges, October's Pink cards are a definite!

Started with a white cardbase which was dry embossed with a plaid spellbinders embossing folder.  To that, I added a stamped and die cut Colossal Snowflake from Unity Stamp Co. Stamped in gina k designs premium dye ink in Dusty Rose.  The sentiment is also from Unity Stamp Co. called Heart of Christmas and has a coordinating die set. I stamped in black and then embossed with nuvo embossing powder in gold enchantment. Added the sentiment to the snowflake and then popped it all up with foam adhesive!

Another for the challenge and for the Christmas card stash!

Going Pink for October!

Hello and welcome! I have participated in the Jingle Belles going pink for Christmas for a few years! I have been a little lax in posting cards here but always know that the first challenge in October is PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness! The blog creators (Stephanie and Lauren) each graciously donate $2 per card to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation!

Today's card features a lovely Pink snowflake! The snowflake and sentiment are both from Unity Stamp Co. Colossal Snowflake and Greetings of the Season. Started with a white card base, added a snowflake embossed panel that was inked over with some pink ink then splattered with some shimmer watercolors. The plaid panel is from Cottage Christmas by Fancy Pants Designs. Twine is from Timeless Twine by BellaCreationz. You can't really tell but the snowflake was embossed with some embossing glitter, but it didn't really stick everywhere so it's VERY subtle! LOL

Hoping to make more pink, but if not one is better than none! :)

Sketch #35 on the last day of the Linky Party!

Hello everyone! Today is the last day of the {BYSHC} Christmas in July 2023 Linky Party! Get your entries in by Midnight! In the meantime....Sketch #35 is almost history! My card today features some fussy cutting and patience!

Papers are from Echo Park Paper Co. Gnome for Christmas. The "Merry Christmas" chipboard sign was also from Echo Park (Home for Christmas). The holly bunch is a stamp from Unity Stamp Co. called Christmas Wishes. I stamped it out onto white cardstock, colored it with Tombow ABT markers, then cut it out. The red enamel dots are from Gina Marie Designs!

{BYSHC} Christmas in July Linky Party - Llama

Hello again friends! How are we already half way through the {BYSHC} Christmas in July Linky Party?!?!

My card today is again featuring some scraps that were left from other cards! Today I'm using a sketch from Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge blog!! Sketch #195 was from a few months ago. I print sketches and save them for when I'm stuck! LOL Sometimes you just need a visual!

Papers today are from Echo Park Gnome for Christmas paper pad. The sketch is below for reference! While there are no measurements on the actual sketch, my measurements are for the holly squares...2 3/8" square, with a 2 1/2" square mat, and the red rectangles...1 1/8" x 2 3/8", with a 1 1/4" x 2 1/2" mat. If not using a mat behind the patterned paper, just cut to the mat size! The llama (Llama Delivery, which happens to be no longer available) is from Newton's Nook Designs....one of our fabulous sponsors! If you go back through my blog, you'll see this cute guy A LOT!!! So I first die cut the llama and the gift, then stamped then colored with off brand alcohol markers. Die cut a vellum circle with Unity Stamp Co. scallops and circles nesting dies. Tied with some natural twine from Timeless Twine! Be sure to get your entries in before Friday at Midnight!

{BYSHC} Christmas in July 2023 Linky Party Kickoff!

Welcome to the first day of the {BYSHC} 2023 Christmas in July Linky Party! So much fun to be had this next week! Starting today, running through the 28th, enjoy lots of posts and inspiration to get some Christmas cards made and ready for December!

Today's card features a new-to-me technique of multiple background stamps and colors! So much fun to create this (and a few others)! The background stamps are from Unity Stamp Co. (which happens to be one of our amazing sponsors)! Started with a white cardstock panel cut to 4.25" x 5.5". Stamped the Linen background stamp using weathered wood distress ink. On top of that I stamped the Santa Express background stamp using a trio of colors (vintage photo and crackling campfire distress oxide and forest moss distress ink). I ink blended around the edges with more vintage photo. Next I took a manilla tag and ink blended more vintage photo over it to darken it up. Stamped the sentiment using straight Vintage Photo. If you look closely the black stick tree is on a clear piece of plastic that I die cut with the scallops and circles nesting die set from Unity Stamp Co. from a piece of wrap that was around a stuffed toy we had purchased! It has a ton of trees all over it! I cut another piece from it and will use that later! ;) Next I added the twine (red/green and natural from Timeless Twine by Bella Creationz, the jute twine from May Arts and the gold thread kreinik metallics blending filament)! I loved the look of a tag tie technique that Sandhya used and tried to recreate it! I love how this turned out!

The sponsor list is so amazing! At the end of the week prizes will be awarded! Enter often for a better chance at a prize!!

New Month, New Sketch!

Happy June 1st! A new month, means a new sketch at {BYSHC}! This sketch has SOOOO much potential!

My card today features a die and stamp set which I purchased with my gift certificate from Lawn Fawn, which I won during the Spring Into Christmas Linky Party! It's called Ho-Ho-Holidays. While it was somewhat time consuming getting all the pieces cut and stamped and then colored and put together, I do love the end result! Super cute! Papers are all from a pack called Gnome for the Holidays Christmas by Photoplay. Cut according to the measurements. Santa and sleigh were cut from white cardstock, stamped with versafine clair in nocturne and then colored with Tombow ABT markers. Sentiment also from the same set was stamped in a similar way and cut as a banner! I put all the elements together in a cute scene and added some foam tape for dimension. Red enamel dots from Gina Marie Designs for the finish!

Can't wait to see everyone's take on this sketch! Have fun!
