Unity Membership Makes - Note of Thanks

Well I managed to make another card for Unity Membership Makes!

I had stamped the typewriter a couple times last week...I made one last week with it for Father's Day. So I grabbed this image (which is from the June 2023 Kit of the Month {from the countryside}) that was basically ready to go and colored in a few sections for accent. The sentiment is typed from my computer in a typewriter type font. Because I had this already stamped and ready, I stamped the top of this onto the printed sentiment, then fussy cut just the piece of paper. I tried to channel my inner Tenia (Unity DT Member) with the washi and staples! LOL The striped panel was die cut using the scalloped and rectangle nesting die set from Unity. I added some washi tape to that. The lined notebook paper is just that...lined notebook paper ripped right from a spiral bound notebook! Die cut that with the make a tag die set. I added a mini paperclip and some black enamel dots and viola! Finished!

I tend to use a lot of pieces that are basically left of my desk for inspiration! LOL It's right there in front of me!

Growing in Unity - Day 2!

Hello and welcome back for day 2 of my Growing in Unity week! If you missed day one....you can find it here!

I am a big proponent of Thank you cards! If someone takes the time to send you a gift or do something nice for you or provides you with excellent service or ANYTHING, the least you could do is let them know how you feel about it and that you appreciate them thinking of you! Today's post is about saying thank you!

I love the simplicity but the elegance of this snowflake in this Sentiment Kit from October 2020 by Unity Stamp Co. called Heart of Christmas. It also comes with a die set that coordinates with the large words, but this "thanks" is not available any longer. I stamped the heart of snowflakes onto cardstock with distress oxide in stormy sky and embossed with clear embossing powder. I then die cut the panel with the large rectangle from Scallops and Rectangle nesting dies (from Unity). Stuck it to a white cardbase, die cut the word and then attached it to that panel using a glue pen! After all that was said and done....I thought it may need something more.

This is the original card.....embossed stamped image and die cut word.

Then I added a few rhinestones....

Then a few more......

Then I tried pearls (gina marie designs)! I love them all!

This card design/idea came about because my sister-in-law asked for thank you cards that were "not Christmasy, but wintery"! They don't have to be difficult or fancy or hard! They just need to be addressed and mailed! Easy peasy lemon squeezy! This simple but elegant card will be much appreciated by the recipient!

Don't forget to comment each day to be eligible for the random drawing of two Unity Stamp Co. store credits!! It could be you!

Inky Paws Rainbow Challenge #199

It appears that I am card 1 and card 2 posted for the Rainbow Color Challenge #199 at Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge Blog! My second card is not super exciting, but it is nonetheless a finished thank you card for my stash! This image is one of the freebies offered on their challenge rules page.

This is a great use of scraps! I went through my scrap stash and found all these beautiful rainbow colors! Cut them all diagonally and adhered to a piece of white cardstock. I then die cut a rectangle from the center using the Unity Stamp Co. scallops and rectangle nesting dies and popped it up with some foam tape. I printed the sentiment twice....not sure which would look better and it turned out that BOTH looked good, but together! I layered the vellum printed sentiment over the white paper printed sentiment and then fussy cut them out. I added some white twine and some white sequins to add some interest.

Thanks for visiting, be sure to leave me some love to let me know you were here! :)

GIU Week! TGIF!

Well here I am on the last day of this wonderful week! To recap my week....here are day 1, day 2, day 3 or day 4 .... click on each number! If ever given the opportunity to participate in GIU, you should absolutely do this! It's so fun to challenge yourself by doing things you wouldn't normally do and getting it done quickly! LOL Unity is an amazing company and while I've not actually "met" people in person, the people I've met online are marvelous and super talented!

Now onto the actual card! LOL When I started planning my week, I hadn't planned on so many or "only" Christmas cards, but alas, here we are! LOL Let's shake it up a bit! This month's Whit Kit arrived earlier this week so let me dig into that and share what I can! The Unity kits are all kinds of fabulous!

This month's kit doesn't disappoint! For this card I used the embossing folder (plaid company), a sheet of the paper pack and a couple of the stamps! WOW!

Started with the kraft background, which I embossed and then gently brushed with first vintage photo distress oxide, then went back and focused on the edges with black soot distress ink. I used the scalloped & rectangle nesting dies to cut the orange panel and also the watercolor panel. The watercolor panel was ink smooshed first with several distress inks! Ripe persimmon, dried marigold and vintage photo.

After the ink dried, I stamped the distressed wording and the large pumpkins directly on top of the ink, then die cut. I went back in with more distress inks as a pallet and a water brush and target watercolored the pumpkins, stems, leaves, etc. I added some Nuvo aqua shimmer at the top of the pumpkins and then added some white gel pen for added dimension. Added some may arts burlap string and the sentiment was added with foam tape!

Thanks for visiting and following along! I had the best week and all of your comments were read and appreciated! Please don't forget to leave some love (and your name) to be eligible to win one of 2 $20 gift credits from Unity!! Winners will be chosen at random sometime tomorrow! Thanks again until next time! :)

Jenni

p.s. edited to update.....when your 7 mo old puppy gets on the counter and eats part of your card......embellish, embellish, embellish! She not only ate the corner of my image, but also the twine that was tied as well! luckily the bows were included in the Whit Kit and covered exactly!

#alwayssaythankyou

My son's 19th birthday was this past weekend (September 3rd) and as he was headed back to his college dorm, I asked if he had any thank you cards to send to his grandparents and his aunt. Of course I knew the answer was no. I started to make these cards with him in mind....but he left before they were finished! LOL Typical teenager! But as with any teenaged boy, they don't want anything too fluffy or soft or sweet, so grunge, distressing and brads were my solution!

To start I took a piece of 65 lb white cardstock, cut it into 4 and ran it through the big shot with a Tim Holtz embossing folder. I brushed some black ink over the raised dots to distress it some. The "hello" bubble is from Heidi Swapp (dated 2013), I've had it forever! Stamped it in Gina K. dye ink in tranquil teal, then die cut it with matching die. The thanks stamp is from paper smooches (no date, but it's old) which I've also had forever! Glad I've decided to pull out old stuff! Stamped it on black cardstock with some versamark embossing ink and sprinkled on Gina K. embossing power in fine detail white. I added some silver brads (which you guessed it....have had forever) to give it a more grunge-like look!

Well he didn't take these, but he may need them in the future, or they may go to any number of teenaged boys I know! LOL

Thanks for visiting, please let me know you were here! :)
